Mobile Windshield Replacement Services

Everyone knows windshields are the No. 1 safety restraint in any vehicle. Therefore, having a chip or a crack, as small and harmless as it may seem, is a safety hazard. They could cause the glass to shatter; thus, it is necessary to repair it or get a windshield replacement. A replacement job only takes about an hour and, in most cases, is covered by car insurance.

Things to Keep in Mind.

An incorrectly installed windshield could pop out in an accident and cause harm to the vehicle’s occupants. Which makes choosing the right place to get a windshield replacement a crucial task. There are installers who don’t use proper materials or techniques, showing very little care for the client’s wellbeing, risking lives.
In case of a crash, the windshield acts as a layer of protection, keeping the driver and passengers inside. If the windshield is not strong enough, passengers could get thrown off the vehicle, and decrease the odds of survival. Even having a chip or crack that obstructs the driver’s vision, could increase the chances of an accident.

When is a Windshield Replacement Necessary?

Some rock chips and cracks can be repaired without having to replace the entire windshield. When cracks are bigger than three inches, and the chips bigger than a half-inch, then a windshield replacement is necessary. Chips are easier to repair when the damage has just occurred. Once water and debris start finding their way into the chip, it becomes harder to seal and repair them.

If the cracks splinter to the edge of the windshield, replacement is also needed, due to their tendency to spread. If these damages occur in the driver’s line of vision, the windshield should be replaced. Repairs don’t often cure clearly, leaving a spot or outline on the area which could obstruct the driver’s vision. Additionally, old windshields that are pitted or hazed should also be replaced.

Care for a Newly Replaced Windshield

Taking good care of a newly replaced windshield is the best way to maintain the investment. Keeping it in good condition ensures it lasts longer and prevents another windshield replacement any time soon. The first few hours and days after the replacement are the most critical. The windshield must be taken care of and protected, following these tips.

Finally, it is important to try not to put any stress on the newly installed windshield. Closing the doors gently instead of slamming them and avoiding roads in bad conditions, make a difference. Keeping a safe distance from other cars while driving can prevent getting rock chips and cracks. These simple actions help with the maintenance and prevent the need for a new windshield replacement.

How Does a Windshield Replacement Work?

After choosing the proper company or auto shop, the technician should walk the client through the process of the repair. Including the removement, replacing and installing of the new windshield. Then, the technician must proceed to completely remove the damaged windshield.

Using primers and adhesives, the technician must install the new windshield. Doing the steps wrong, or skipping the use of primer will result in a flawed installment and a weak windshield. The technician should wear gloves at all times since the grease in their hands can keep the adhesive from working correctly. Then, the windows must be cleaned and any glass that fell on the inside of the vehicle must be vacuumed.

Finally, the technician will tell the client about the sitting time of the car. Once the job is finished, it is important to check for signs that it was completed correctly. The molding must be straight and there must not be any visible adhesive inside the car. It should be clean; any sign of dirt or debris might imply a sloppy workmanship.

How to Prevent an Incorrect Windshield Replacement?

When looking for a company or technician to perform the windshield replacement, there are certain things that must be noted. Asking the different shops certain questions will help determine whether or not they are qualified to do the job. One of those questions is if they use original equipment glass. Original manufacturer’s glass tends to be of higher quality and fit better.

Another question that should be asked is how long would the vehicle be sitting. Usually, it should sit for at least an hour before being driven somewhere, and it can go up to 12 hours. If the answer is anything shorter than that, the shop or technician should not be entrusted with the windshield replacement.

Chris and Michael came out to replace my windshield. How nice is it to have them come to you? Amazing! My appt was set between 1-4pm and they called me around 11:30am to let me know that they were running "AHEAD" (when does that happen) and could be here at noon. They got here right when they said they would and an hour later my beautiful new windshield was installed. In. My. Garage. They were both kind and professional and so helpful. They provide free rock chip fixes for a year, which is fantastic, especially on utah roads. Highly recommend. I called 5-6 places and there price was the most reasonable as well. Great company!

I had the best experience ever! I have been stressing getting the chip in my windshield repaired because I saw that everywhere else it would be $100+ to fix a teeny tiny chip from driving through all the construction in Utah. I called today at 9:40am, got a quote immediately, they dispatched a guy (Kameron) to come to my home and it was all done by 10:30am. I have an 8 month old who hates traveling so having someone come to my house was superb! I paid way less than all the other guys and my windshield is fixed. They also give a warranty that if your windshield chips after they fix it, they will either refund it or put what you paid towards giving you a new windshield. You can still see where they fixed the chip but it is barely noticeable. I will be coming back to these guys next time I have issues with my windshield.

I got hit by a rock on the freeway (in my new 2020 car) about 12:45 pm. I called at 1:10 and left a voicemail. They called me back at 1:45. By 2:10, the guy was in my driveway fixing it. He was done before 2:30. Amazing service and half the price of Safelite! It always pays to shop local; thank you so much!
